I'm still getting a 5 th shift point under part throttle so I'm wondering if a dealer computer reflash might be the way to go now. Only thing is I have 3.42's and a 2800 stall convertor. Any ideas?
A fifth shift point? Are you talking about feeling the TCC lockup in 4th? That can feel like a shift because of the RPM drop. What problem are you trying to solve?
Re: Computer Reflash with a 3.42 Rear? (ToplessTexan)
No, I'm talking after the TC lockup i get another shift point. Its just a pause like its shifting but it stays in the same gear. It has done this since the magnuson programing. You can notice it mostly on part throttle /cruising/ normal driving conditions. I'm wondering if the dealer can flash my computer with 3.42's M6 gears in it and a 2800 stall convertor without creating more problems?
The dealer cannot do anything for you on the 3.42. They can only flash what was available from the factory. If you let them do that you'll have a real mess on your hands as you'll have lost your blower tuning.
It sounds like maybe a lock/unlock issue, hard to say w/o seeing it. I would get back with whoever did your programming.
Re: Computer Reflash with a 3.42 Rear? (ToplessTexan)
I guess i need to be clearer on this. I removed the magnuson and went with a z06 intake. The magnuson gained me 3 tenths in the 1/4 versus what i ran stock with a powerloader! Not much of a gain since after the intial surge of boost it pulled the timming out and fell on its face. Anyhow , can the dealer flash in 3.42's for a M6 car into my A4 with the stock programming?
No,the dealer does not have the capability to do so...Programming is done by downloading the VIN out of your PCM...The 3.42 was not an option for your VIN...They could reflash a 3.15 to a vehicle previously equipped with a 2.73,but not a 3.42 http://www.vetteshop.cc/
Do you think you might be feeling 3rd gear lockup, then 4th gear and then 4th gear lockup? If you do a dealer flash you will lose the 3.42 tune and since you have a converter there's a very good chance of throwing codes.
