Default Replacing Flasher Unit

I have to replace the flasher/turn signal control unit (not sure if I am using correct terminology here) on my 1999 Coupe. Will be installing a heavy duty unit. I was told it was incorporated inside the hazard switch. I assume I have to pull the grill work out in that area to get to the unit. How do I get the grill work out?

The turn signal flasher and emergency 4 way flasher/ emergency switch is an assembly, there is no flasher in it that can be changed since it is solid state.

Bruce A De Boe,

To change the switch, the top dash panel and other items must be removed - a tedious process (and a stupid design).

Why do you think you need to replace the flasher? If you have a "fast" blinking turn signal, it's more then likely a front bulb.

I am putting in a sequential flashing unit from Web Electronics. Thought it would be a quick half hour job. I have a choice of replacing unit, sending the unit back for alteration or wiring in an extra light into the tail lights. Local parts guy quoted me $60.00 for each additional light socket. I don't have the part number so I haven't been able to find it on Parts Direct. Really thought redoing the flasher unit would be the best and easiest way to go. Not sure what to do right now!

Ouch! I understand it's hard to get to.

Good luck.

Okay guys, for those of you that are interested. I got the sequential flasher unit in the car. Took a little work, more than expected, but is working fine. I probably could do it in a half-hour's time right now. Really is cool and I get to show it off at the car shows this weekend.

Have to give a "hats off" to the owner. He really hung in there with me through the installation.
