I would be very interested in knowing how you routed your wiring and where and how you installed your toggle switch. I'm going to be tackling this job tomorrow. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
While I haven't done it myself, I have seen a few threads on this topic. I did just do a search in C5 Tech under archives using the search for "cutouts". There were a lots threads returned, but I can't remember which one had the best info. Interesting (and fun) mod though!

Re: Anyone With Electric Cutouts? (XTrooper)
Steven - greetings! I've got the QTEC electrical cutouts. They are mounted just above and aft of the gear housing. They point at a downward angle.
The wiring was done as follows:
1. Drill a hole just large enough to enter the rear compartment just above the gear housing.
2. Run wire through the hole and snake it underneath carpet over on the left side, over the wheel well, behind the driver's seat, over and beneath the console, and up into the ashtray (if that is where you are mounting your switch).
3. I use a nitrous momentary switch which has a very low profile. It is mounted on an aluminum plate the installer fabricated to fit exactly where the ashtray used to be - even clicks in with small tabs on either side. Had painted flat black and it looks very neat and clean.
4. When finished, put some clear sealant where the wires come into the rear compartment.
Thanks very much, Gary. Your instructions were VERY helpful to me!
I diverged from your wiring path regarding the switch location. I put it inside my center console next to the power outlet and wired it to the outlet as well.

Thanks again!
That's a great switch location. I put my power antenna cutoff switch there. Nice job

Re: Anyone With Electric Cutouts? (Rapid Transit)
Steve - That looks great - isn't this a fun mod?! :D
Rapid - This was done in two stages. Mark at Andy's Automotive in Monrovia (near City of Hope) did the install of the cutouts. He masterfully fabricated the custom exhaust pipe, welded on the flange, and bolted on the cutouts. We didn't have time to do the wiring that day. About a week later, Derek at Morgan Motorsports in Reseda did the wiring for me, provided the momentary switch, and fabricated the aluminum plate where the switch is mounted. Very neat, very clean work by both installers.
Rapid, so when are we going to see you at a West Coast Corvette Challenge?

Very much so, Gary! We got it done just before the Hot Rod Power Tour also!
My wife and I are leaving next Wednesday for Nashville. We're going to do the whole tour from Nashville, TN to Arlington, TX, 7 cities in 8 days, and we can't wait to go! :yesnod:

XTrooper -- I have a friend that works for GM and is driving in that tour, and he has suggested I drive out to Louisiana and drive in the last day trip to Arlington. Got any more details and comments on how this event occurs? Is it a caravan? Thanks.
I also ordered the 2 cutout exhaust pipe sections to be spliced into the rear of the X-pipe. But, the bolts that were welded there are too short, they don't extend enough through the QTEC valve plate. I'll probably have to get a customized job.
Gary, I don't drag race, cuz I like the fun to last more than 11 seconds, or 10, or 9 :D But I'll be sure to come and check out the action though.

I have considered QTEC cut outs for a while.
I changed my oil today and while the car was up on the lift I disconnected the muffler pipes from the intermediate pipes, found some longer bolts and used spacers (2 3/4" nuts) between the pipes so that I could run the car with open pipes like it would be with QTEC's inplace. It sounds a bit crude but it gets your attention!!!!
Yes it is LOUD, but not loud enough that you cant stand to drive it.
If you have a wife (( SHE WILL NOT LIKE IT!! ))
The resonance is really bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was raining when I got it down off the lift so I could not see if it made any more power. I will drive it this way for a few days to see if I want to spend the money on the QTEC set up.
If you are considering the mod, maybe you may want to guive this test a try!
