Sorry it took so long to reply. Yes, I do have the same occasional problem with my '99. It usually seems to occur when I'm stuck in stop-and-go traffic. I make it a point now to reset my trip odometer when I fill-up, and note when I've travelled 300 miles or so (regardless of the fuel gauge reading).
The Julian date code is comprised of two bar codes with a number directly above them (the number referred to in the service bulletin), printed on an adhesive label. The labels are located on the fuel level sender assembly cover plates.

I do most of my own work myself, but I believe this repair is best left to the dealer or a Corvette professional.
Disregard my earlier post...switching from Amoco to Texaco didn't help. The dreaded "Low Fuel" crap started up yesterday (after not seeing it for two months). I know that I still had plenty of fuel in the tanks. Anyway, I pulled into a gas station (Amoco...what the heck) and put in five gallons, started her up and the fuel gauge went right back up to 3/4 full.
Was it just a problem for the earlier C5s? If it's still happening maybe a recall is warranted. Thanks music man for the link. I'll admit I haven't gone there yet.
I see that you are using Flowmasters. Is it the type where you cut your pipe and and C clamp the mufflers to your current pipes and have the two D shape patterns back to back? Just wondering if your happy with them if this is what you have. I have the kind of flowmasters that I described and I'm curious what the difference is in performance and sound from the flows to a cat back system. I know there are many different types of cat back systems.
After reading those articles provided by Musicman...I think I'll just get some fuel injection cleaner and put it in the tank and see if that helps. Has anyone else used the fuel injection cleaner and had some luck with it.

I had this problem with my Tahoe, the injection cleaner did the trick, I switched to Sunoco and it hasn't happened again.
Very interesting. The cleaner is definetly cheaper than having to replace the sending units that's for sure. Mine is still coming and going. Let me know how it works out for you guys.
Yes, I have the Flowmasters you're describing. But, I cut off the "D"-shaped tips and replaced them with four 2.5" polished round tips (Made a mistake when I ordered them...Thought I was getting the round tips to begin with).
I love the sound of the car, and often get compliments and positive comments from people to that effect. According to Flowmaster, the original pipes leading up to the mufflers are mandrel-bent 2.5" from the factory, so they should flow pretty well.
IMHO, they're the best deal out there. They're reasonably priced, great sounding, and only take about 45 minutes to install.

I would love to see a "Class Action" on this issue as mine has been doing it since 35,000 and the dealer used the "could not duplicate customers concern" answer to GM, now with 82,000 on the car I never know when it is going to go spastic on me. It even goes to empty while driving, also after filling it takes some time to read accurately, and by then it's already going down ! :mad I have had friends use the GM extended warranty to replace their tank gauges for the same issue, and usually only one gauge will be done (due to julian date) but the problem still persists, and now they want more money for the deductable of the policy....but the problem was never fixed in the first place !!!!!!!! :mad :mad
Hey triple, It's funny that you mentioned cutting off the D shaped tips to install round ones. That is exactly what I was going to do myself. How did it turn out? I'll probably not do it at this point and may purchase a cat back system but who knows which one. I just don't know which system is loud enough with not being irratating. It would be cool to line up a couple of C5s all with different exhaust just to hear them. I keep thinking that if I can hear it in the car, with the pipes facing the back, other people should hear it better if they are behind me. I just don't want to let someone get in and take off in it for me.
As far as the fuel gauge thing I'm considering starting the process of gathering names to serve as a petition
