Default I Have and Electrical Problem I Need Help With!!!!!!

OK my car sat over the holiday weekend. On Tuesday morning it would just barely turn over. It did start and is running now but the battery appears weak. No this is a new Optima Red Top purchased back in January.

Now my other symptoms. Voltage on DIC fluctuates from 13.8 down to 11 or lower very fast. This is especially true when the lights are on. It is almost never stable. I can be driving at night and all the lights will dim down for a split second. These problems went away when the Optima was new but have now returned.

So do I need to replace the voltage regulator pn# 12533439 or the alternator pn# 10246634. Does a new alternator assembly include a new voltage regulator?

Any other ideas.

The car is going in to 21st Century Muscle Cars tomorrow for a new clutch and currently has 98,000+ miles.

While they have it apart for a new clutch, take the alternator and battery down to pep boys / schucks, and have it bench tested. That is the only definitive way to check them.

It sounds like an alternator problem. Alternators don't like charging completly empty batteries.
