Default Newbie Dumb Heads Question!?

I might be interested in putting in a heads and cam package sometime in the near future (depends on the funds avail.), but I dont know much about what it all involves. Is it better to just have the stock heads ported and polished and buy a cam. Is this where the Core Charge comes in? I was thinking about MTI, but Im not even close to Houston, and Norris here in Orlando is a little expensive for me. Would I have to send off my heads, or just pay a core charge and get new ones? Sorry bout the rambling, pretty new to this stuff. Also, I have a 97' C5 M6. Thanks

Mike Norris will do you right, I'd rather pay a little more for him to do the work right, and know it's right then to go to a "cheaper" alternative....and just to note, I've driven my car from Tampa to Orlando just to have him work on it, and there are plenty of places here in our area, but I TRUST Mike and so do MANY others here on the forum.....save up the extra "coin" and take it to Mike, you won't be disappointed

First, I don't think Mike is really much higher or lower than other "reputable" tuners. Bottom line, is go with the experience....you don't want to cut corners with this type of work. To answer your question, almost ALL the tuners take your heads in as a core and install a set of new/ported heads on your car. There is no "core charge" unless you want your stock heads back. There really is no reason to want them back IMO. Getting these things installed is only part of it. You must have good, sound, and proven tuning done to your car. Mike Norris is a prefessional and damn good tuner. If he is a bit more, then it is worth it IMO.
