-Theory of center cam bearing wearing in is plausible.
-What is the comment about RTV lechtate (sp?) on high silicon value?
-I have heard that cloth filters do let more dirt in than paper filters. I changed to a 2002 Z06 Air Filter Lid but use a stock paper filter. If z06 can develope 405 hp with this combination, it's good enough for me !
The leachate is the result of it being a new motor. The Donaldson filter has a very good track record as far as silicon is concerned in the used oil analysis.
Change mine per computer. Just turned 40K in 11 months and going for 3rd oil change and never had to add between changes. Just finished an 8000-mile cross country trip and oil was down less than half a quart. My 2000 had 95k and I followed computer there and damn near zero consumption. I guess the paranoia of the 3000 mile change goes with those that only drive 3000 miles a year. There is medication for that or just get a poster of the car and buy a Toyota for driving.
Sounds like you drive enough to change by distance, I usually end up changing by time per the manual of at least once per year. I change just prior to winter storage.
