I read this post in archives about DIC error messages & engine power loss.
Anyone ever know what the reason for it was or what the perminate fix was?

DIC error messages & engine power loss 10:50 PM 3/13/2003
1998 Coupe.....
Anyone know about a problem with the DIC flashing errors "traction control system" & "engine power loss" while driving? Engine also looses power, unable to accelerate above 45 MPH. I have been told this is a "known" problem. To clear messages I was told to open and close drivers door while car is running. This did clear the messages and turn off engine warning light but... same thing happened 2 months later? Anyone know the permanent fix or what causes this?
Re: DIC error messages & engine power loss (blk91)
If you open the doors you will see rubber acordian type grommets. The wiring to the left and right door control modules pass through these grommets.Inside these grommets are 2 wiring connectors. The connector pins loose their contact from opening the doors over a period of time.Because these door control modules communicate with the other 9 modules in the vehicle,a poor contact in this connector (usually a ground wire) will cause havoc with the other systems...If you remove the grommet and pull the connector out and disconnect it,you will most likely see one female terminal spread out causing poor contact with the male terminal :yesnod:

:mad :mad Happened to me just yesterday!!!! :mad :mad
It has happened to me in the past but this time the reduced power message ment just that. NO POWER AT ALL!!!
I was lucky to get the car home. I was limited to 5 - 10 MPH.
Man,, was I pissed. I got a hard 1518 code that would N O T clear!
Now I am going to remove the passengers wheel and examine the Throttle Acuator Control (TAC) module. I hope that it just got wet or something simple and not damaged by the leakey battery acid problem!!! :mad
Well,,, it's off to the garage to take her apart AGAIN! Twice in one day is not good. I should be driving instead of repairing! :D
