is it worth it to go from 3.42's to 3.73's?

What is your application? I would do 3:90's in a regular C5 6 spd. I would keep 3:42's or 3:73's in a M12 Z06 car. Turbo or supercharged I would run a higher gear like 3:23 or 3:15's. That would assist traction down low and mad 2-3rd acceleration on the blower.

I don't think that you'll notice that much going from 3.42's to 3.73's in an MN6. I'd go with 4.10's or at least 3.90's. You give up a little gas mileage but get a lot more enjoyment. They are also easier to start off with from a light and you really can feel the difference...let alone the fact that 5th and 6th are now useable gears.

I'm gonna go with 3.73s in my MN6, but then again I'm not a drag racer. I figure 3.73s will be right in the sweet spot on the highway -- perfect for toasting M3s. :steering:

I had the same question. I have a buddy who was talking to a tuner, and they recommended 3.73s in a z06 instead of 3.90s or 4.10s. Just wondering what those with gears in their cars thought.
