Factory Mods
Porsche must be feeling the heat from somewhere. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Porsche's, in fact I've owned several and I got this info from my Porsche club mag.
Porsche is now offering a "Carrera Powerkit" for new and used 2003 996's.
Some heavy weight items in the package include: new intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, cylinder heads, camshafts (yes they have more than 1, I think they have 4), new vavle springs, modified oil pan, modified DME maps, an additional radiator, and a modified frt. spoiler.
The package cost 14 grand if you order it as an option on a new car or, $17-$20 grand if it is a retro fit.
And the bang you get for your buck: a whopping bump from 320 fwhp to 345!! :bb

Main reason why I traded in my E46 M3 for a Z.
These powerful 6 cylinder engines are cutting edge technology, highly-strung, engine's.
It is impossible to get significantly more HP, and VERY expensive just to tweak out a few HP out of them.
My M3 would have cost well over 10G's to extract another 20 HP. Jeez I could likely get that with some minor bolt-on's on my LS6! :smash:
Every time I look at the endless H/C packages, F/I kits, Strokers, and the relatively reasonable cost for some significant HP, it just brings a HUGE smile to my face! :D

Of course I have to put up with my C5 a part @ the dealer again...this time to replace a torque tube. This marks the 2nd time my rear sub frame has been removed, matching the record on the front subframe.
You won't see that with a Porsche. But you won't see 500 fwhp either.
