On my way to work this morning, I received "Serv. Tire Mon. System". Anyone have any idea what this is about? My left rear is showing XXX for the pressure. Is this something that I can fix? Is that tire punctured? Any insight about this troubling message would be most appreciated!! Thanks a bunch!
zero pressure and "XXX" are two different things. Usually the "XXX" means that wheel sensor is not sending any data. It probably is destined to be replaced.
I had the same problem on mine after I had my z06 chromies mounted.....I ignored it and after about 4-5 days it completely went away and works fine now. I've heard of this working for several forum members....hope it works for you.
I get this error message when I drive around town with ET Streets on the rear. I think this is because the ET Streets are a shorter tire and turn at a faster rate the the stock rears. On the stock tires are put on, the message goes away after a day or two.
I would first check to see why the tire pressure sensor is not sending data.
mixxit,
first thing you need to do is go thru the reprogramming procedure and see if that takes care of the problem.

Wow, thanks R&R. When they say "large magnet will do" how large are we talkin'? Also, it says "over the left front valve stem". What does it mean by "over"? Forgive me if I seem clueless here. Thanks for all of your help!!
mixxit,
i've read on this forum where members have used a magnet the size of a pencil eraser to a car speaker magnet. if it has a pretty good pull you should be ok.
hold the magnet at the base of the valve stem where it connects to the wheel. sometimes it helps to move the magnet around ever so slightly.
take your time you don't want to scratch the wheel.
After a run in with a sliding piece of steel on the highway I just had my rt front sensor replaced and got rid of the Goodyears (replaced with Firehawks). The sensor and tire mounting work was done outside the dealership as the techs have to have some special certification to do it. The GM tool to 'reset' the sensors is basically a small horseshoe magnet (about a half inch wide) with a hole in the centre that fits over the valve stem. I did the procedure myself (borrowed the GM 'tool') in about 45 seconds, following the instructions in the note above.......

P.S.) What a difference in ride vs the Goodyears. MUCH quieter and smoother ride.

I've read that too. But it may re-occur if you don't address why the sensor needed to be reset in the first place.
Seems that after a few "resets", the sensor needs to be replaced anyways. I hope not... but reprog'ng the wheel sensors doesn't cost anything. It's worth a try.
I ended up having to replace mine, and the dealer was kind enough to tell me that it wasn't covered under warranty, and I had to pay $400 :mad Hope you can fix it with the magnet
