What exactly does the BCM do? What's the difference between the computer and the BCM? How can your BCM go bad and not your PCM? I would think that if water got into that area, then both would be ruined.
Before you replace the BCM, try cleaning the connector first. This connector gives people a lot of problems when a small amount of corrosion gets on it. I had an engineer at the factory tell me one time that about 95 % of the modules returned to them had nothing wrong with them. the dealers just pull the old one out and put a new one in. When they break the connector and replace it they clean off the little corrosion causing the problem. Problem fixed and a good module gets scrapped. Not saying this is always the case, but it's easy to to clean a connector first and try it than to pay the money for a new module. If they really get flooded due to an A/C condensate leak than they can get corroded inside but I'd still try the connector first if the car isn't under warranty and the money for a module was coming out of my pocket.

Re: Explain The BCM To Me Please (MY1Fast99C5)
Damn that was easy enough. I have seen it a few times. Does it hurt to disconnect it nad reconnect it?
I would be sure to disconnect your battery first. Other than that it won't hurt a thing to disconnect the plugs and clean them if necessary and re-connect them.
I got my car back yesterday...with a broken plastic/carpet covering under the passenger side dash :mad I WILL NOT EVER take my car back to a dealer unless I absolutely have to (which...I did have to) Anyway, they replaced the BCM and the EC...? Along with the relay something...? Car seems to be alright, although I still have to figure out how to stop the air conditioner from leaking, and my 3rd brake light is still the only light showing up when I brake
But as far as the car running, it seems to be alright :)
Oh, one more thing, 1st gear along with Reverse REALLY like to jump back into neutral. I've been told this is pretty common...? If I go to 1st, then Reverse, it's usually alright...
