interesting... in that I've never heard of that before. If the VSS had failed, you'd think a couple of error codes would of been set (and possibly a CE light as well). Makes me think the actual gauge has failed ????

P1571 and C1255 are ABS related.

Have you checked the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector for corrosion?

The IPC uses a signal from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to calculate vehicle speed. The IPC defaults to 0 mph if there is a malfunction in the vehicle speed signal circuit. The PCM receives data from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) which is located on the rear drive axle.

The service manual indicates removal of the right hand muffler assembly is necessary to remove/replace the VSS. However, it may be possible to check the connection without removing the muffler.

Did you just install bezels? or pull the cluster apart for any other reason?
You could have the needle on the other side of the stop bar.

This is the only way I've seen the speedo not work while the rest of the gages did.

Does your digital speed calculation work?
Like when you set your cruise control, does it say on your DIC “...speed set at xx...”?
If so, than there is nothing wrong with the input to the PCM, or else its performed computing.
:iagree: If the DIC readout is working then it's the IPC. I had a similar problem a few months ago....turned out to be the IPC, Thank GOD for extended warranties, because the whole IPC has to be replaced. :yesnod:

ty for all the advices you guys gave me they help to find the VSS.

i went this morning and check the VSS sensor and find out that the conector was missing and the cable was chewed by some critter. I went to the parts dealer and it was close. i cant wait for monday so i went to auto zone and bough a conector for coolant temperture sensor wich is the same type of conector and rewire the conector and plug it back on and PRESTO, SPEEDOMETER works now, just took me a while to figure out what color goes where, A pin is Purple and B pin yellow on the conector when you look the conector the clip is on top, left pin is B and right is A.

i got the BBQ ready just incase i find that critter!!!!! :lolg:
