I have a 99 FRC with a mn6. Lately I have noticed that the car has been taking longer to fire up when cold. Starts fine when warm. It also turns over freely and I pulled the codes but they are all history codes that appear not related to a starting problem. The car has 32K on it. Would new plugs and wires cure this or am I looking at something else..Thanks in advance for your help....John
i have a 1997 with 21,500 miles and i have the same problem my car was at the dealer and the vette tech told me to change the fuel filter. i have no codes relating to this problem either. car starts fine when warm but the first start in cranks for a long time. this problem just started to happeing last week. i have changed the plugs last year to tr55.
hope some one can help.

Usually caused by the fuel rail not maintaining fuel pressure :yesnod: You will need to install a pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure when you turn the key on.When you turn the key to the on position, the pump should prime the fuel rail and maintain pressure when you turn the key off.If the pressure drops, fuel is leaking past an injector,or back to the tank (or a leaky fuel line of course)...The fuel pump has an internal check valve to prevent fuel from going back to the tank (2001 and up has the check valve in the fuel line)...A leaky injector would be indicated by rough running and black smoke once it eventually starts...If there is no fuel pressure when turning the key to the on position,a pump relay circuit would be suspect.
The C5 runs off 50psi fuel pressure,so fuel pressure prime when starting is important :yesnod: http://www.vetteshop.cc/
Mine is starting slow too lately. I suspected as C-5 TECH stated above and started always turning the key to on for a second or two until the fuel pump shuts off then crank. This has not helped mine though it still cranks too long before starting.

Mine has 39k miles now.
If the fuel is leaking down past an injector or injectors then your engine is flooded before you even turn the key. Change the filter, have the injectors cleaned and if that doesn't help find someone with a fuel pressure gauge and a scanner thats capable of testing the injectors. good luck
