I am new to this site and I have only owned my vette for just over 2 months. I was wandering if it is normal for the active handling to kick in while going in reverse at a higher speed than normal. I notice the car starts to get jumpy and jerks. Can anything be done to prevent this other than only backing up slowly?
Re: Active Handling kicking in while in reverse? (j916)
It is normal. As far as I know, active handling doesn't know you are in reverse. When you turn the wheel left while backing up and active handling senses the nose going right, it will try and correct. Chevy could have fixed this by telling the car it is in reverse using the backup light switch, but I guess they didn't ever think we would back up that fast! :jester

Don't know the answer here, but were you doing one of those "Jim Rockford" reverse U-turns?
ANy old farts know what I'm talking about? :jester
I think I know what you're talking about. Is this where you haul **** backwards and spin the car around so you are going forward in one swift manuever?

You got it! It is tougher to do than it looks, at least if you want to be smooth about it.

:withstupid: Yep, happens to me....dont even have to be going excessively fast.
Re: Active Handling kicking in while in reverse? (j916)
If you shift into Reverse at a high TPS % (as determined by PCM) then Abuse Mode will Kick in and shut down selected injectors (3 or 4).Keeps us from over-stressing the drivetrain.
TPS = Throttle Position Sensor, measured in % at the throttle body.
