I'm hoping that the c6 is ugly and the engine is just some bolt-on crap like chevy did to make the ls6 better than the ls1. If this is the case, all lsx's will be able to be modded to the new specs and they can keep the ugly shape. Sorta what happened to the viper.....destroyed that car...it looks like a Sebring convertible on steroids now. :reddevil
If not......anyone want to buy a 2001 c5? :leaving:
Just an assumption, but I would think this is probably just going to be a stroked LS1/LS6 hopefully with some upgraded guts?
Seems to me the trend for GM seems to be to watch what aftermarket stuff is working well, see what can be worked into a warranty-able package, and call it a GM innovation?
Who knows? But would you rather set the trend, or follow it when GM comes around to recognizing it?
I think that the C6 pictures I have seen illustrated in Motor Trend and other mags are wrong. The illustrations are laughable, and if the C6 looks like any of those drawings were screwed.
I hope you are right there. The Autoweek pic is what scared me though. They photoshopped something together and the front was scary looking.
I SURE HOPE the C6 is every bit as gorgeous, or even a little more, than the C5. It is a hard act to follow!
Chances are the new engines will have to fit in chassis that are already sporting the LS6 ie the CTSv. So my bet is that the engine will fit in a C5.
Factory engineered packages are always better than aftermarket. I would much rather have an engine/calibration designed by the dozens of engineers at GM than a combo from two or three guys. The GM guys have tools and resources available to them that very few other companies can afford.
Im seriously considering holding off on my heads and cam project until after the C6 is released to see the exact specs on the new motor and if it will fit in a C5. Any thoughts...according to Car and Driver, its supposed to be 6.3 liters and have 425 horses.
with a good ls6 heads & cam package you will easily dyno 450+ rwhp with smaller cubes. compare a 5.7 ZO6 405hp vs. a 6.3 425hp. although the power curve may be better in a 6.3L, it will take a long time to get the bugs out and have the knowledge to MOD it good. i'll stick to a modded ls6 IMHO for now and a long time from now! :yesnod:
