Will unpluging the battery clear codes?
Had the column lock last week took it to the dealer and they tell me there were no codes. But they also had unhooked the battery for another unrelated fix as evident by my radio being deprogrammed.
Also if you the the "Service Column Lock" it should set a code, right?

Does that mean the codes do not get erased when the battery is unplugged? I know you can erase them on the DIC but need to know if they erase by unplugging the battery too. The dealer claims there were no codes after the steering column lock failed. I assumed there would be codes for this failure.

Shouldn't. It will probably set a code....Loss of Communications.

When you first get in your car get the DIC to be blank, then hold down the options button and hit fuel 4 times in a row. It should start scrolling through the codes, then hit optoins again and you can scroll through them manually. As you go through them, it might say something like HVAC - 3 codes, just hold down reset and it will beep and say no codes.
