I just starting getting code c1286 on the dic ,says it is steering sensor bias malfunction ,anyone else ever get this code and was there a solution ? I have the owners manuals and wellll I am not a molecular engineer :lolg: hoping it is an easy fix .Thanks in advance
is that the only cause of this ??? I had an alignment done recently and also had to disconnect the steering shaft and pull the rack to pin the crank for the magna charger ,could something be missaligned ?? Thanks
Yes,if the steering wheel was rotated while the shaft was disconnected, you may be 180,360,540 degrees, etc, out :yesnod: Also,if rotated to many times, the air bag coil spring will be damadged...The steering position sensor should read 2.5 volts on a TECH 2 when the steering sensor is centered
C-5 TECH is the man !!!!!!!!!!  looks like I was 360 off ,no codes and I just took it for a spin I will keep my fingers crossed .Thanks again you are a total asset here

Hmmm - I had an alignment done a while back and it wasn't long after that I could hear a scraping sound inside the upper portion of my column, and I continually get the C1286 code. Is this an easy diagnosis at the dealer? That is, could the column be disconnected and rotated until the volt reading is correct? Could I do it? And what about that coil spring - sounds like mine is damaged or at least loose... opinions?
