Default Would going to LS6 Heads be worth it???

If I could get a set of LS6/Z06 heads for $1100, would it be worth it to switch over or would it be a waste of time for the $$$ involved. How much could I expect to pick up with the LS6 heads over my LS1 heads with my TR 220 cam?

For the labor involved, I'd say not unless you're going to have them ported...but if you do that, it'd be worth it :) I speak from experience!

How much would it cost to have them ported and how hard would they be to install?

I just purchased CNC ported heads from Scoggins-Dickey in Texas. They are actual Z06 heads that are fully CNC ported, thye are slightly milled to 65 CC combustion chambers and come with valves springs and retainers. The cost of the heads is almost 2,000.00 for a pair, fully assembled. When they arrive,
I will have them flowed checked and send the info off to have a custom cam grind. I should have them on my car in 2 to 3 weeks. I just need the time to do the install. I'll keep you posted. Z06 heads do out flow LS-1 heads even after the same amont of porting of both pair of heads. If you plan to get headers and other intake mods...then go with the Z06 heads if money is not an issue.

los7883, I have the same combo that you asked about. Adding stock Z06 heads with that cam are worth about 20 more rwhp in my opinion. If you get quality Stage 2 ported Z06 heads, then you should get about 40 more rwhp.

I would get the TEA 5.3L truck heads that come stage 2 ported with bigger valves. They give you 11:1 compression without milling and flow better than the cnc ls6 heads from lingenfelter especially oin the exhaust side. They are 1799 from there.

If you still want ported ls6 heads I will be getting the TEA heads and will be seling my ls6 heads.

Are yours ported at all? How hard would they be to install...I've read JMX's how to page and it doesn't sound that hard...but is it really? I would assume that changing out the cam would be harder...but what about the heads? If I went with straight ported LS6 heads would I need to change anything else? Or just switch everything over to the LS6 heads? SpinMonster...IM me a general price of how much you think you would be selling yours for...thanks.

Forgive the stupid question but what is milling? Would I have to worry about my compression if using these heads?
