Just got a Billet 6 Speed chrome ball today. But I can't get the shift pattern to lign up. There is an included hex nut, so the problem is that without the nut the 6 spd pattern is upside down. With the hex nut it is off by about 45 degrees.
What should i do?
Was this shift **** not made for the Hurst? Should I buy another length hex nut?
Also, please do not try anything more involved than this. It only gets tougher on a Vette.

An aftermarket shifter like the Hurst can transmit more heat from the tunnel because it has no isolator like the stock shifter so heat is conducted more directly through the metal shaft. I have found that sealing up the area around the base helps.
I'll have to take a picture to post so it's clear. How I did it: Basically, you cut about 40% off a tennis ball and then put a hole about 5/8" in diameter in the top-center. Force it over the shifter shaft and securely down onto the base. Works great on mine.
Just did it took all of 30 seconds. I tried this earlier with pliers and now I used a wrench. Feel stupid because it was so easy.
This **** seems to get really hot even at night. Is this a problem for anyone who drives their car alot?
On to my next dileema - How do you know when the car is low on Fuel? ;)
Stop, turn the engine off, open the hood, locate the yellow circular handle (very close to the cap that says "Mobil 1"), pull the yellow handled "dipstick" out... if the fluid line is in the "ADD" section, then you're running low.

:skep: I'm not saying that i'm an expert mechanic or anything, but i'm pretty sure that's how you check the oil not the fuel. but what do i know

Now that's a good sport and I give him credit for trying. You never learn if you don't ask and you don't do it. Onward through the fog, you'll get there.
