I tried the Hurst but found it to be too notchy, noisy and not suitable for a daily driver. What I'm looking for is mainly a better feel for the gearbox.
Stock shifter feels too isolated because of its integrated rubber bushing. I replaced my stock shift **** with an MGW and that made an improvement.
Next step wil be the Mallett shifter. This one is not very popular. Price is way too high at $450.00! But still I want to give it a try since it suits my needs and I've read only positive things about it!
Bring it back.....
Did you ever get this shifter? If so, how does it feel?
I put the Mallett in my Z06. Not at all notchy. The modification I made, was to put a soft solid ball on the stick under the cover to remove noise. Also, since the **** was aluminum, I dipped it in a rubber coating, so it would not be cold or warm to the touch. Never missed a shift and it is smooth.
You can now order the new C6 shifter ($220.00 shipped-Fichtner Chevrolet) which is a short throw and short stalk for your C5.
Mine will be here next week!
Shortened B&M, several steel shaft-collars under the boot for dampeners, drilled and tapped 2.25" black cue ball ****. Don't underestimate the effect of a good ball!
