I installed the speed bleeders and changed the brake fluid today. This is a 98 with 25K. I have owned it since 99 at 5.4K. I am simply doing PM. Plan to change tranny and differential fluid also. None of these fluids have been changed since I purchased the car.
The old brake fluid was blue and looked perfectly ok. What brand would this fluid be? I put in Ford (yes Ford!) High Performance DOT 3 brake fluid. Did I throw out some exotic fluid! The brakes on the car have been perfectly ok. Again just PM. Was this wasted effort and money? By the way only took 3 pints. I bought six.
I firmly believe in MAINTENANCE, so I change my brake fluid every year. It also gives me something to do while the car is stored for winter.
I have a friend who's been doing Corvette repairs as a side business for years. I asked what he recommended for brake fluid and he goes with Valvoline synthetic.
