I bought a set of 4.10 gears and a hardened output shaft during the recent DynoTech Engineering GP. The price and timimg were perfect. My MMS h/c package a buddy, Wt99C5, and I installed last winter was pining for a set of 4.10's. I picked up a set of low mileage 3.15's from a forum member, (Emerson, you never did tell me your forum handle) and that was a great buying experience. Emerson went as far as buying 3/4" plywood at Home Depot and built a beautiful custom shipping crate for the trip to DTE and back down to Atlanta. Phil Rickard, president of DTE, suffered through several of my long phone calls and patiently explained to me the entire process he developed to ensure the longevity and reliability of his gear boxes. Phil is very  and has put a lot of time and thought into improving the process of upgrading the C5 diff. As a mechanical engineer, I was impressed at how thorough he is in his methods and testing.
I had the 4.10's installed at Lamar Walden Automotive last Friday, broke them in for 250 miles over the weekend and had the car tuned on Monday.
These gears are awesome! I'm sure they're not for everyone but, combined with my h/c setup, the fun factor has doubled. I think if I were swapping gears on a daily driver, I might opt for the 3.90's. My C5 is my "strictly for fun" car so the 4.10's are perfect. They really wake up the low end and set you back in the seat. I only have a few hundred miles on them but could never go back to the 3.42's.
Kudos to Phil and DTE and to Lamar Walden Automotive.
I've had mine for about 8 months now on my daily driver C5...and I put about 700 miles a week on the car. These gears are simply amazing. I can't imagine driving around with the 3.42's....you guys that don't have 4.10's are seriously missing out  :smash: :yesnod:
Thanks! Great info. My next mod will probably be 4.10's. How much money am I looking at roughly to buy and have them installed?? Winter project....???.......Atlanta for 4.10s and tuning at LWA. Just a thought. :D
Congratulations on your new gear set-up. The difference is amazing!
I agree with Chuckster....I would give back any of my mods as well, before
I'd give up the 4:10. :yesnod:
I agree...besides the V1, I'm not sure that there is any other mod that I would put ahead of getting 4.10's. I know if I get a C6 and the drivetrain is the same, 4.10's are going to be one of the first mods I get. They are just too much fun to pass up. Also, with my mods, I'm glad that I got the 4.10's instead of the 3.90's too.
And it's great to hear about your positive experience too. Coming from a mechanical engineer that's a pretty good recommendation.

I bought mine from Andy at A&A corvettes...think I paid about 1200 for the rear and 450 for install cost. Money well spent!

To 4.10's...
I totally agree, FunDriver.
Below is an excerpt from the GP post that illustrates what I'm talking about. This is the kind of info Phil will discuss with you if you're interested. He mentioned a couple of other tidbits as well but that's for him to reveal. :)
We have been implementing a few new modifications/enhancements to our HP differentials that should further increase the internal components' durability and lifespan. All of the current GP diffs. have these additional internal modifications done to them already, so not to worry.....
In addition to the extensive main case and carrier deburring we already perform on each diff., we are now also extensively deburring the pinion shaft support, both side covers inside and out, the steel clutch pack housing, the ring and pinion gears themselves and modifying the bearing oiling system to promote more oil flow to the bearings for cooler bearing/race operation and longevity. There are a number of other little touches that we also do, but do not wish to disclose for propriotary reasons. They are certainly for the better, especially for HP use.
These additional steps add a substancial amount of time to the upgrade process so there will be a slight price difference to our regular pricing that reflects these improvements. The current GP prices for all current participants will still remain the same, you guys just get the "extras" as free-bees!
Thought I would pass along this information for anyone who is interested. Have a nice day!

Phil Rickard
