I was changing brake pads today on my 98 coupe and noticed that the bolt for the front (fiberglass??) spring was missing. I have not noticed anything different about the car but also dont drive it hard. Does anyone know the size or part number for this bolt. Can I use a bolt from the local auto parts store or does it have to be a special bolt?? I checked the other side and it was also missing. Funny thing is that I have never had any work done and it looks like the bolts were never installed....Thats GM quality at its best!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks :steering:
Are you talking about a "nut" or the "bolt"? I assume you are reffering to a missing "nut". The part of the "bolt" that shows on top of the spring (on both sides of the car) isn't supposed to have a "nut". However there is a "nut" for the "bolt", but it is molded into the spring thus isn't visable nor is it removable.
Yes, I am referring to the nut missing. So, the spring has a molded nut inside? Maybe that is why I thought it was missing. The only thing I can see is the top of the bolt sticking through the spring and a washer type thing on the bolt that is sticking out. I will have to get a better look at it. Thanks for your help.

That's exactly what it should look like.
There's no nut installed on top, nor is one needed. The bolt is threaded through the spring, and with the extreme spring pressure resting on that bolt, it can't loosen or turn.
