i'm just starting to look at that too. If you get a Tazzo Performance Meter you will be able to get it down much better. It will give you 0-60 mph and 60 ft times as well as hp, 1/8 mi, 1/4 mi, etc. I've been trying between 1500-2500 rpms because I've also been looking at what would be the best launch to just pick up speed from a light without burning tires. I still need some more practice and input, though. There will be some people around here with more experience to answer your question but lately it's been in the high 90's around here and not exactly the best conditions to practice, so I haven't been doing much.
I actually just bought the PDA-Dyno. This gives me all the 0-60,1/8 & 1/4 mile times and estimated HP in acceleration mode and hp & torque curves in HP vs. Torque mode. Going to play around and see what RPM launch gets me the best times.
Let me know how it goes. Toward the end of my testing, I was settling in around 1800 for launches without burning up the tires...but still it would lug down some at times...depending on how I feathered the clutch. As I said, with such hot weather, it's hard to make a good judgment call.
I would love to hear more opinions on the best launch technique for street. I see all too many automatics that seem to be able to get a good jump on me right off the line... embarassing!
