Has anyone had any problems with their convertible top leaking? On my 99, it was leaking above the passenger seat. The dealer fixed it, and then it was leaking on the drivers side. Supposedly with a little silicone they fixed both sides. Yesterday I'm driving in the rain down here in south florida which is like a hurricane compared to Boston where I grew up and the top is leaking on the drivers side going drip drip drip onto my arm and leg and luckily not hitting the window buttons, etc on the door panel. Is this common? How does it get fixed? New top, new weather stripping? I'm so sick and tired of taking the car back to this place. Its costing me nothing cuz its under warranty on the top, but its still agravating.
Rob, fine tuning the window adjustments are a real winner. Slow and easy big payoff. Dealershio flat rate mechanics are not the best to do this. It is a DIY project.
Now for the leak. Must isolate where it is leaking from the middle of the seal at the center of the window OR (what I think) the area where the top seal meets the windshield seal.
If in the middle a window tip in adjustment is called for. Also note 1999 have a window to top wear issue at the drivers upper corner.
If at the junction...slide the top seal forward to meet it better.
Add die-electric grease to remoisten the weatherstriping.
There are weatherstripe movement and bracket bending possibilities to help seal the car.
Lastly in strong storms mine would drip a drop once every so oftern (drivers side). I think the air speed pushes the water over the side window edge.
