Default Washington DC area performance tuners?

I'd like to add 4.10 gears and get an LS1-edit done (as well as dyno). Anyone know of a shop in the DC area (100 mile radius) that could do this?

Judging from many different posts here on the forum, I think most folks from the Virginia/DC/Maryland area are opting to travel to East Coast Supercharging in New Jersey for the kind of work that you want done. :yesnod:

There are no good vette guys around here. You can get the 4.10 put in around here no problem (I recommend tony's corvette for that), but the tuning no one around here seems setup right.

Try cartek or ECS up in jersey.

I would give the guy at Woodbridge Dynotech a call. http://www.woodbridgedynotech.com/
We've had dyno gatherings there and they treated us good.

Take the ride up to Chris at ECS in jersey. That’s what I did for my 4.10’s; or Cartek or VetteDoc's. After much research I found out that the local "good/quality" shops around here are wayyyyyyy overpriced  from what forum tuners typically charge for install prices. And I mean wayyyyyy more, almost as if they were quoting install prices for a different car. I would rather travel 3-5hrs for a quality job at fair price than have my wallet molested for a quality "local" job. Just my honest opinion.

This isn't totally true. Depends on the job.

Tony's is a bit expensive but once you talk to him you know your getting 110% quality. For example, he always replaces every bolt he unscrews with new ones, etc. He does great work, but his prices will be a bit higher.

And my local dealership, Criswell, has a great mechanic (Joe) who I have had do my headers, converter, etc. Gears are a bit different since you need to have your speedo recalibrated, but any ls1head can do that. Dynotuning is a different issue and that is where Maryland shops fall flat on their face IMO.

Any competent shop around (I use Criswell. Did my headers/Vr1b/PIAA's) can do your gears. I had Ls1edit done here: http://www.fbodycentral.com/phpws/index.php Jason Shifflet is very experienced and I have guided a few Z06 owners his way and they are very satisfied (like me! :D ). He may be able to put your gears in and do the edit for ya!

You can trust these guys they are on your side and care about Vetts for real. They worked on my 87 and when I need work on my 00 they are the only shop I will consider.

I would never have anything done at Criswall again.

I am interested in how you guys rebuild your rears. Do you have all the setup tools from Kent-moore? What do you do about clutch and bearings and shims with the setup. Also what do you charge.
