Contemplating suspension upgrades. Have done some pretty serious engine mods (401 rwhp) and thinking about the suspension. Car is a weekend driver and wife drives on occassion so don't want to go to extremes. Currently have the standard suspension in a 03 coupe. All reccomendations appreciated.
This is the best bolt on suspension package for most applications. The 12-way adjustable shocks along with the Hotchkis sway bars will give the best of both worlds. You can set your shocks for slightly stiffer than stock to road race settings all the way to drag race settings.
I am currently running a special on the HAL/QA1 shocks at $850.00 + shipping and as a Corvette Forum member you will receive a 10% discount off the price of the Hotchkis sway bars.

Surely there are members out there that have done suspension mods or at least have an opinion worth sharing....isn't that what this section is for?
Well, I was going to do the set up that Todd @WCC was talking about with the Hotchkis and HAl shocks. I was talked out of the shocks and went with the bilstein sports instead. I wanted the Hal's for the drag racing adjustments. I think any upgraded shock is suitable for street driving and you would have to raelly push your car on the road course to require road race setting on the shocks. I was told I should still hook on my et streets with the bilsteins with 600RWHP on the way! So thats good enough for me, as I plan to drive my car mostly on the street and at the drags. If it doesn't hook with the bilsteins I will sell those right away and try to recoop some $$ and then go get the Hal's. If you want to wait about two weeks I will let you know if the bilsteins help me hook on the et streets with alot of power ( I plan to launch hard at the track) so if they work for me they should for you! I would rather try $329 vs. $850 (as long as they work) if not it wasn't much lost, as apposed to $850 you maybe didn't have to spend.
I got a full Z06 suspension setup for my coupe from an '01 Z06 from the for sale section. I then picked up some of the metal endlinks from gmpartsdirect.com .. installed myself this past weekend.. I've been very happy so far. It's a different car! (I had FE1).
I am leaning towards the bilsteins also. Thanks for the input. Let me know what you end up doing....if I haven't taken the plunge by then I may take the bilsteins off your hands.
I had thought about going the Z06 route but could not get a straight answer about the difference between the Z06 set up and bilsteins with the Hotchkis. Did you compare the two?
This is David Coates - I gave you the tour of the shop when you were down in Houston last. Hope you're doing well!
I'm about to upgrade the suspension on my Vette in the next couple of week and am going with the Bilsteins and the Hotchkis sway bars. I've done a lot of research and this seems to be the package that is going to give me the balance I need between upgraded performance and too hash driveability.
Shoot Jayson an e-mail and see what he can do for you on that package - as a repeat customer, he'll take care of you!
adios - with the Z06 package, you're getting upgraded springs also. With the bilstiens/hotchkiss you're just getting shocks/swaybars. Either one should be a big improvement, but in bang-for-the-buck you can't beat a used Z06 suspension bought from the for sale section, installed by yourself. :) It's a good bonding experience with your car as well, as you take it apart and work on it.
What I plan to do is keep the Z06 springs and swaybars on, and probably replace the shocks with Konis or penske's down the line.
