Default Smoke and Stalling last night

Went out last night to prep that car for today. So I pull off the car cover and start her up. She is running real rough with RPMS going from 400 to 1400 (idle set to about 750). Lots of smoke coming out the exhaust. It then stalls. Now my reserve fuel tank light was on, so I was thinking maybe I was out of gas, so I pop in some gas from my reserve canister, about 2 gallons and fire her back up. Car keeps stalling. I finally get the car out of the driveway, after 2 stalls, and drive it around to get the engine to heat up and yes, all the problems went away. Put it in park and it was idling fine once the engine oil hit ~170. I did notice something odd. 1) My EVAP line coming out of the S/C was off. So I push it on (How do you keep that sucker on, you can't use a clamp, tape? glue?). Also, I noticed a blue substance in the plastic collector areas right under the hood going up to the front window. Looks like windshield washer fluid, but I never sprayed. :(

So this morning, I was a bit nervous when I crank her up. The engine is
cold and I crank it up. All is fine. Idle is good, no smoke.
Any clues as to what happened?

A black pull tie or tie raps which every you call them, or a hose clamp.

Problem is it goes inside a metal piece coming off the magnuson. No place to do that. Otherwise it would have been a bit obvious..thanks though! Imagine sticking a rubber hose inside a metal cylinder. Thats what I have and it just slips out of the cylinder. No where to tie/clamp..
