Anyone ever have a rattle on the driver side in the dash above the footwell area above the pedals? Have this annoying rattle that I cannot locate while driving, it's driving me nuts! :cry
mine seems like it is coming from the front of the driver's dash area. The worst part is that it is inconsistent. Just when I think it is gone, I end up hearing it
I too had a rattle that I thought was low in the dash on my 1999 C5 coupe from the day I bought it new. I checked a lot of things and could not find the source.
One day I opened my hood and saw the right hood hinge plate "lift" slightly from the frame. The hinge is held to the frame by two nuts on studs that are welded to the frame. Both nuts were loose, allowing the hinge to rattle when I drove on a rough road. I tightened both nuts and that eliminated the rattle noise that I swore was coming from the dash. The left side hinge nuts were not loose.
I saw on your profile that your C5 is also a 1999. Mine was built in 8/98 following the infamous UAW work stoppage.
Check the nuts that hold your hood hinges to the frame. It may be your rattle source. Good luck.

How about a rattling sound that seems to come from under the car? Kinda like an exaust rattle, but more "tinny" if that makes any sense. I usually hear it in the morning until the car starts to warm up.
1999 do you mean the actual hinge at the front of the hood by the bumper or the latch where it locks it near the windshield? I checked the near windshield latch and everything was solid.
