what is the downside if any of using an underdrive pully

There isn't a downside at all. If you ahve a high powered stereo you will want to get an "overdrive pulley" for the alternator to keep up with the power demand. Its a great bang for the buck if you are doing a H/C with it. I'm not sure I would go to the trouble of putting one in if you aren't doing a H/C package with it.

I gained 6rwhp with my ASP. Only downside is if you are doing a big stereo.

There good for 5-12 hp depending on how modded the car is.I believe it at a couple hundred dollars to be a safe mod and when combined with other bolt ons /Stingers/blsckwing/headers /exaust etc.it further heightens the gains the car will give you.I'veseen 10-12 on more than 1 dyno occasion.Dave Smilovic.
