There are instuctions for installing the HUD in the Tech Tips section. Not sure about the price but search the Parts for sale section you can find many in there.
Once it came out (98 or 99), it was an option, so some do and some don't. I seem to recall the HUD unit being in the 2k-3k range. It's pretty friggin cool, especially when people who don't know you have it slide behind the wheel to check things out.
I added the HUD system to my 98 for about $750 , for that I replaced the Speedometer cluster with a 2000 model purchased a projector and switch set, then cut the exsisting dash pad . Did not replace the windsheild image is still good. I had to get the mileage reset to match my old speedometer . If Your working on a 2000 or newer car the cluster does not need replaced that will save a lot of money. I work rather slow , took maybe 6-8 hours including several trips to the parts houses.
I also added the hud to my 98.....Total cost was $500.00 for all parts,(purchased used on this forum!) and I also work slow, the install took aprox. 6 hours including the install of the vette essentials aluminum guage bexels. I got all the install instructions from the tech section on the forum( This place is great!) Hope this helps. Steve :D
Figure $300 for a used projector, $100 for the HUD Switch, $50-$75 for the 11pin Wire (IF you can find one), $15 for the dash bezel, $200-$300 for a HUD cluster if it's a pre-99 or a 99FRC, and about 5-6 hours for an install...
