I had crane single valvesprings....one broke, which I replaced. The engine ran fine. I then received REV1116's so I would have the added protection of dual springs.
Is it my imagination or do these springs make your engine sound like a sewing machine? The noise wasn't there after the crane spring was replaced and there was no damage.....compression and leak-down was fine. It comes from both side of the engine and all along the valvecovers. Any clearance issues with the stock rockers? I have the new comp cams rail rocker comin'
Yup. I have the same springs as does a buddy and they do have that characteristic sewing machine sound. Part of it is how the springs interact with the rockers. At some point I will probably go with a different spring and possibly one of the new adjustable rockers.

Re: Broken valve spring (SpinMonster)
Did you use the bottom spring seats with these springs? You can not use the stock valve seals that have a lower spring seat built in. You must change to a earlier model GM valve seal so the REV lower spring seat will sit on the head and allow the inner spring to be located properly.
That would be the only issue that we have seen with the rev springs.

Yeah I went with the hardened seats and the old style seals. I was just wondering what the ticking sound is. There is no engine damage. As I have pointed out, the engine didn't make this sound at the point I had the crane singles on just prior to the swap. I do all of my own work. I am happy with the performance.
My guess is the close proximity of the inner and outer springs. They rub against each other. I have no problem with the sound and I wanted to see if anyone else had the same results. Thanks for the responses.
