I have owned my Corvette, which is a Mag Red 2000 coupe for 2 months, and it has recently developed an annoying squeak/rubbing sound when going over rough roads. anyone had this problem before, do the suspension bushes need lubricating periodically, or are the shocks capable of making this kind of noise ?
Any input appreciated,( by the way it has covered 23000 mls)
Check all your rubber muffler and pipe assembly mounts. If you do not know what they are , go to lube store like a jiffy Lube and ask them to check it out.
Mine at 40K miles just developed a simular noise. It's the passenger side bottom control arm bushing. Unfortunatly the whole arm needs to be replaced, you can't just change the bushing. Thank god it goes in next week to be replaced, it's driving me crazy!
Sorry for the question, but what exactly is the H pipe ?
The H-pipe is the part of the stock exhaust between cats and rear axle. BTW, the previous owner of your car might have replaced that part with an X-pipe.
Just wiggling at the exhaust tips won't be efficient enough to hear the spring squeaking, if any. You better raise the backend of your car to have access to the H- or X-pipe. This info is based on my own experience!
