Im gonna season some rotors and I know some rotors are harsher on the rotors than others. I do not want new rotors look like crap (brown) after seasoning so what pads should I use?
Im using stock right now and have a set of Raybestos in the garage.
the higher the pad torque, the more they are going to scrub metal from your rotors.
I run hi-performance pads on the street and a pure race pad on the track. The pure race pad keeps the rotor looking like it does when it comes back from being turned.
Since race pads cost nearly $200 per set I resorted to putting my stock pads back on inbetween track events and was surprised how they nearly polished the surface to a mirror finish.
If you are using the rotors for a pure street application then any street pad will be fine, check for a low dusting pad.
The more performance the more materials like carbon fiber they will have and they will work both to wear the rotor and the pad.
Which Raybestos do you have in the garage?? I have used the Raybestos QS pads and they seem to be very rotor friendly. And since I run chrome calipers the minimum amount of dust they throw off is a real bonus. I'm sure however that they would not be the best bet for competition use. Currently I have been running a set of Hawk pads. GREAT stopping power, very quiet and clean but a bunch expensive (Approx. $200)

Yeah, I got the Raybestos QS which I will use after the stock pads wear off. My stockers still has alot of life in them when I changed into c/d rotors.
