Default Mcleod Twin Disk Quality Problems

I'm looking for information on quality issues with the Mcleod Twin Disk Clutch setup. I was told by a very reputable performance shop, that they had stopped selling them. Four out of Five of their last installs behind 422 and 427 cubic inch motors had to be replaced within a week of install. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The problems have just appeared in the last year.

The Vette Doctors use that clutch all the time. Bowery Boy runs 9's with it in his car. No problems that I know of.

I was thinking about having one of them put in with my gears but decided against it since my clutch is almost brand new.

My tuner says that all he puts in unless someone requests something different.

Havent had any complaints .And i have installed a bunch .I helped McLeod develope the first twin disc set up and they used my clutch master cylinder until they developed there own . There twin set up with there clutch cylinder is unbeatable. It is avialable in many gripping preasures. Just call GEORGE or RED at McLeod they will work with anybody.

I have had the Twin disc with an Aluminum Flywheel, Ap adjustble master and Z06 slave in my car for almost 2 years now. I have not had any problems with it. I went with this setup because MTI was or is using it with the 422 setup.

McLeod had a lot of problems initially with the street twin until they figured out the clutch hydraulics. They also have two styles of pressure plates for it. The diaphram style has many fingers and the B&B/Long style has 3. Do you know which style MTI has been using?

I will be ordering the aluminum flywheel setup very soon, but I might contact MTI first.

Eric

Hey Keith! I tested a few versions of the twin for Red as well!
I actually got one of those original Master cylinders from you a while back. This last version has held up very well!!

did any of you drill out the adj master. i have shifting problems at upper rpm, not a tranny problem either, and just got the mccloed adj. have been told some drill out the line as well. any insight into this. peddle does not stick to the floor, its like it just doesnt disengage quite enough and have been told this part is the cure. have z06 slave etc with spec stage 3, all works fine, i just need it to shift at 6500. than ks, joe
