Default Decarbonization Procedure

I am about to do this...but I am a bit confused on some of the information out there.

Some say to leave the stuff in overnight...some say 12 hours...and the bottle says 15 minutes.

What is a good time to leave it sit in there?

I left mine in overnight...although 24 hours may be better....either way...it'll work better than just letting it set for a couple of minutes...

Roger that! :yesnod: Plus, there's a write up that he originated in the Tech Tips section that gives details on how to do it best.

Have a good one,

I am considering doing this to mine soon.. I think I have an Oil burner...I am sure my pistons are covered with carbon..

Does this stuff do anything to help the condition of oil burning? I have 20,000 miles.. Will it get better on it's own? Or will I need to have the rings replaced?

I think I will do my 1st startup at night.. this way nobody will see my baby smoking like a Shuttle Liftoff... :D

Don't forget to change the oil/filter asap after doing this. Dumping all that juice in the top of the engine will contaminate the oil as well as wash out a lot of particulate crud and gradu. It's also a great time for new igniters if they're getting some age on them.

My car smoked but not like the shuttle, looked more like a Vega at a traffic light.

This proceedure is a big help to ping prone engines.
