I've read about fixing the ebrake engagement issues...However, I've noticed something that seems strange to me...Maybe I'm just not educated on the C5s well enough as of yet...
My ebrake will hold the car if the rear is facing down hill...the ebrake works fine ... but if the front is facing down hill then forget about it... the ebrake will not hold... Why does it work if the rear of the car is going down hill but not if the front is pointed down hill...
Rolling backwards the rear wheels turn in a clockwise motion that "unwinds" the parking brake shoes thus making them tighter against the rotor. Think of the Chinese handcuff principle.
The ebrake system is a "simplex" one with an open C with the pushing mechanism at the open ends. If there would be a hydraulic cylinder, both ends would get same force and braking would be same back or forth.
But instead there is a mechanical lever that obviously pushes more to the lower part of the "C" than the upper resulting in different brake force.

Why we are on the subject....can you adjust them without taking them off? I heard if you roll backwards around 5 mph and put the E-break on it will adjust it 1 click.??

According to the GM Corvette Service Manual on page 5-89 under PARK BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTMENT, after you have adjusted the the shoe to drum clearance to 0.015K of an inch the park brake brake is adjusted automaticly by cycling the park brake lever three to four times.
Hope this helps !!

This always seems to help mine, but I still don't trust it.

Re: Emergency Brake Question... (TDOG_in_NC)
CAUTION
Don't ever rely solely on the E-Brake......I've already "set" the brake and as I was about to exit the car, it "popped" off and began to roll away. Maybe it was my fault, maybe it needed that little extra pull, but I'd hate to read about it happening to someone else.
