Default Max Speed before and after Mods.

This morning after nightshift i finally got the chance to compare the max speed i have now after the Modifications i did (see signature). The car has almost 50 HP more.
I was waiting until the weather conditions were almost similar to the first run (Max speed on first run was 179 MPH on odometer, 177,5 GPS indicated), which i made over a year ago.
OAT was about 66 F, QNH 1018, no wind at all. In both runs i drove on Highway A92 from Munich towards the northeast. Fueltank was half full, gas 98 octan ROZ (which is the 93 ROZ+MOZ/2 that you guys have in the states).

So the conditions were almost the same, to have some numbers to compare.

Max speed was 183 MPH on the analoge display of the Corvette, which was a 181,5 MPH on the GPS.

I was not shure if i could get the car that fast at all, because of my cold air screens, which might have some influence to the aerodynamics of the car. But it seems that this was not the case.

The car pulled very strong up to 170 MPH. Then up to 180 MPH it took a while. To get to the topspeed of 183 (odometer reading), the needle hardly moved at all, so i needed a distance of another mile or so to get there.

Anyway, to car was very stable all the time. Only when the street was a bit rough, the car accted a bit "bouncy", but still very controllable.

Oil temp. got again up to 300 F, and the MPG were at . . . ah, dont talk about that :)

The autobahn was free, so the run was very save.

Thanks for your interest.

Jochen

I'd feel safer at that speed in Germany than I would doing 65 on I95 in Miami.

Jochen, sounds like the car's running great. How do you like the Hurst?

50 HP only netted 4 MPH (183-179)? This sound like you are RPM limited not power limited.

Hey Brad, nice to hear from you. I LOVE the shifter. It makes some noise under hard acceleration, but i can live with that. I emailed you already a days after we left miami. Did you get the mail with the pictures we made on brads boat, or do you still have problems with your Email ?

I hope we may come to Miami in october, but i will let you know if this is for shure. Please say hi to all your great family !

@ Mitch, engine RPM was 5850 at Vmax, my redline is set to 6200, so there is plenty of space to gain more speed. But the 3.42 gear has its advantage more on the acceleration side. Its hard to get a higher top speed with this gear. You need a lot of ponies to pull the car faster !

Nice numbers Jochen! It´s allways fun to test the car on the autobahn when there is not so much traffic on the roads

I heard that, an autobahn would be nice for an occasional top end run, I think I would have to be in the bag to go that fast on one of our highways, ooops I did I forgot but thats another story--
