For 5 years+ this light only went on at start up. Took a ride today and CHECK ENGINE light goes on after about 45 minutes. Checked gas cap--it's good and tight. Any ideas what could cause this (I'm sure there are many)???
Any thoughts would be appreciated. :yesnod: Thanks in advance. Bob
Usually that light will have to do with your emissions. Nothing to do with the engine itself. Your car will still run and perform fine, the little light just becomes really anoying. In my experiences with working with these cars, the engine light will quite often be a bad OXYGEN SENSOR, these little buggers fail all the time and will throw the engine light every time. If you're still under warranty, then no biggie, if you have to pay for it....well....$bling $bling!

Yes--what you describe is pretty much the way the car is. No loss in performance, no codes, but the damn light stays on. I guess I give it a day or two to see if it clears up. If it doesn't, thank God I still have 8 months left on my GMPP. Much thanks to you and all that helped. :yesnod: Bob.
Rich---Was under impression code would automatically pop up on DIC if there was any kind of a problem. Will do a scan today and see if I can come up w/ anything. Thanks again. Bob
Started car yesterday---Check engine light still on. The DIC shows no codes. Have not done a SEARCH on DIC to see what codes may be in there.
As I said before--glad I have GMPP. Have scheduled service appt. Tuesday 8/19. Thanks to all for your input. :yesnod: Bob

Do a search on the DIC before you go in. Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of stuff that is not covered on the GMPP. The entire DIC scan doesn't take 2 minutes. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=26&TopicID=1
Your "Check Engine" light will remain on until you pull up the codes and reset it. At least check your codes so the Chevy Dealership folks can't bs you....
Was finally able to get the DIC codes. There are a total of 6 codes. They are:
10 PCM----P1415 H----P1626 H---(2 codes)
28 TCS ----
40 BCM ----
60 IPC ----
80 Radio----
99 HVAC----
AO LDCM----U1064 H
A1 RDCM----U1064 H
A6 SCM----U1064 H----U1016 H---(2 codes)
BO RFA----
Appreciate it if someone can let me know what these codes mean and IF they have anything to do w/ my "check engine" light (it's still on). Thanks . Bob
BiggieBoy, If you have the Window Valet or a similar device, it will give you the U1064 codes. This shouldn't affect the check engine light. All of your codes are historical (H). Current codes are shown as a C.
