I am leaving for about 2months and the car won't be in use. My new RedTop seems weak (ie. barely starts) only after 2 week hiatus. Do I just disconnec the negative to prevent discharge? I am planning to change my oil before I leave as well. Anything else I need to do for long term storage?
SB: two months isn't so long that you need to do much. You should get a Battery Tender and always use it if the car sits for more than a week or so. By using the Tender, you do not have to disconnect the neg cable. If you decide to use some Sta-Bil in the gas, just make sure that you drive the car for awhile after you add it, so it will be distributed throughout the fuel system. I would also unlatch the top to take pressure off the weatherstrip. Clean and dry the car, put the windows down an inch or so, and cover it. Alternatively, you could send it to me and I will keep it running for you..... :D
It's a LONG story but I have 3500stall and 3.42 and Powerloader. And Powerloader doesn't like my mods.... SO, I am having LS1 edit done some time before I leave to fix it. It's shifting erratically - almost as though TCC is locking/unlocking at wrong times. Where are you in KC?
Also, what is this Sta-Bil you speak of? I am leaving for college in less than a week and the car will be stored in my 3rd garage for months at a time...
