While being pretty new to posting, I’ve been researching (aka “Lurking”) for about six months now (picked up my 2003 Coupe in Feb.). Thanks to the SEARCH function, I have answered l my burning questions about BSMs, lowering, exhaust plates, sill decals, Zaino, ad infinitum...
I think I’ve got a handle on my first round of performance mods and would like to hear your Input.
(1) Catbacks. Negligble horsepower gain so buy what sounds good. Borla Stingers being the price leader
(2) Air Intake. (hotter than the abortion debate),as far a “bang for buck” goes, one can’t really beat drilling out the stock cover and adding a K&N. Also, the "performance" hood seal is no more than Home Depot weatherstripping.
(3) Air bridge, MAF screen, TB……….don’t bother
(4) Headers. Hands down the LG (Borla-built) setup w/cats
(5) Tuning – LS1 Edit a must
I'm thinking that this would be about as far as I could go, before looking at the investment in heads/cam...
Thanks. If my "lurking" was on-point, I'm thinking 3.42s are about a $2000 mod. (close to my entire "first mod" budget) Gears are DEFINITELY on the list though!!!! Just curious why you didn't erecommend 4.10s???
Thanks for the feedback!!! I'm guessing you're in agreement that TBs, MAFs and air bridges aren't "must do" mods?
