Just finished installing the Flows on my wifes 97. Perfect fit and finish with great sound. No renosence inside. Great sound outside. Highly recomend with the D stainless tips. Purchased from Summit. Now her DIC says to service tire monitor system. I will work on that this weekend.
I had the C5 Flowmasters on my C5 for a while. I liked the sound, but eventually a baffle (or something) inside one of the mufflers broke loose. This cuased the muffler to rattle a lot under throttle, so I opted to give the borla's a shot.
Had same thing happen as bgood did with his flowmasters. They started having an internal rattle and after a long conversation with Flowmaster I realized they were not going to stand behind there product(1 yr warranty). Rather than spend $220 each for new ones I went with the Borla's. I did like the sound and tips of the flowmaster's, too bad they won't stand behind there products better.
Yup, Flowmasters are notorious for internal rattling after a few months. Good luck with yours and I hope you dont ever have to deal with a warranty issue. As previously stated, Flowmasters do not stand behind their products...
I'm not impressed with Flowmaster's quality. Put a set on my C4, and one week later, the left side dropped down, scraping the ground. The cheap 1/16" sheet metal mounting tab broke. Got a quick replacement from Summit. Two weeks later, the right side broke. Realizing how cheap this tab was, I just welded new thicker tabs on both sides which continue to last after 12 years.
Good thing C4 mufflers are easy to remove, especially after I coated the joints with antiseize. I don't think I'll ever buy a Flowmaster product again.
I had the flowmasters too. I hated the tips so I did the same and changed them over to some other tips. Then That process looked kind of cheesy. Then something rattled around inside one of them. Then I purchased GHL's and will never go back. :U Flowmasters. just my .02 :seeya
Kinda makes ya wish you hadn't mentioned the exhaust at all, doesn't it? :D
I've had mine for just over 4 years now and really enjoyed them.......BUT I never really liked the tips, plus they are starting to rust. :U So i'm going to be switching to an SS type of exhaust, just don't know which one yet.

You can get Borla Stingers for $450 (2-tip) or $550 (4-tip round or oval) - Stainless steel, lighter than the Z06 titaniums, incredible sound, and a 1,000.000-mile warranty. How can you go wrong?
My used C5 came with Flowmaster mufflers already installed. Overall I have found the Flowmaster sound pleasant, however, some resonance and gurgling on deceleration is noticeable. I am adding a Magnaflow X-pipe to the recipe next week which should smooth out the noise on deceleration. The tips aren’t as visually aesthetic as some competing cat-back systems, but, then again it’s difficult to fairly compare the Flowmaster with the Magnaflow or Corsa as the Flowmaster cost is less than half of most of its competitors. My problem with the tips are that they do not align evenly. The tips seem to be overly malleable resulting in either the left or right tip being slightly, but, every noticeably, out of alignment. If anyone has any suggestions on keeping the tips straight please chime in.
Flowmaster mufflers are one of the most restrictive mufflers on the market today. They sound good but they rust out overtime and the tips arent all that great looking.
I put a pair on the minute I bought my 2000. I have had alot of good experiences with flows as an installer and as an owner. I have had them on at least six of my own cars. I am very happy with them. I installed maybe over 1000 flowmasters in all types of applications over my years as an exhaust shop owner, and NEVER had any warranty issues. These things are bullet-proof, and they sound bitchin'.
