NewB here...Excellent forum; I'm addicted!! My ride is a 99 FRC. Its a daily ride and I could'nt be happier! I have a Blackwing and the A&A mod with a Bassani X Pipe. (awesome quality). Now, the question: Will headers and high flow cats make the soon to be purchased GHL'S too loud? If so, will Magna Flows be a better choice. I want mellow and deeper tones than stock. Its a daily ride and I like to hear myself think. Please help...these systems are very pricey. I know we're talking subjective stuff here, but I value the opinion of the members. Thanks, and save the wave. PS TPIS long tubes get high marks in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Seems like good bang for the buck. Care to opine?
I can't speak for GHL's but I just installed FLP headers and my Corsa indy system is not any louder until you floor it or get the car over about 3000 RPM :D
JJF, Welcome to the forum... I have Long tube headers, gutted cats and B&B Route 66 cat back's on my H/C car... I'm in Phoenix every day. Give me a call and you can see and hear my system anytime...

I had the GHL system on my car before the headers, and I can tell you the LT headers and hi flow cats didn't make too much of a difference in volume, except under hard acceleration in the higher rpm's. (I have the FLP headers system). The idle and cruise volume was about the same. The headers did give quite a bit more "bark" when getting on it hard though. I think you will be very happy with the sound and won't find it too loud at all.
If this is the case.... go with Borla! Borla tends to have a deeper tone. I have BBK headers, Random Tech high-flow cats & X-pipe with the Borla 2 tip stingers. Sounds perfect IMHO. I recently added a 224/224 comp cam and it sounds
Thanks, I will call. Do you ever go to the Pavillions on Saturday? Very nice folks who share the Corvette experience. My email is JJFMD@***.net My name is Joe Franzetti.
Just yesterday my FLP were installed, I already had Corsa Indy's. Great set up. Lots of low end grunt and it screams to red line much harder. Oh and they sound FANTASTIC.
JJF, Yes, I had the car at the Pavillions at the last Corvette night (1st Saturday of the month). Lots of good Corvette people as you mentioned...

I'm very happy with the sound of FLP longtubes going through Borla Stingers. Deep, powerful rumble at idle and low speeds. At high RPM sounds like a race car. In other words, to my way of thinking, sounds like a vette should! Remember, "loud pipes save lives".
Here is my experience with exhaust and headers... When I purchased my Corsas... they were loud and popped, snarled and growled... I thought they had too much sound for a stock engine.. so I purchased the Bassani X-pipe... I liked the new sound without the popping and snarling I had before.. when I installed the TPIS I was right back to where I was before with more volume of sound at 4000 rpm and above. Now I have real HP (700+) the car is quiet cruising down the road... when I get it on... it is so loud... little animals run for their lives!!
