It seems my '99 A4 is developing sporadic starting problems, especially restarting after the engine has been running for a while. The starter motor cranks normally but doesn't catch. I replaced the fuel filter less than a month ago but it hasn't helped. On another forum, someone suggested there's a 'checkvalve' that keeps the fuel primed in the lines and that this could be leaking. I asked Fitchner about this part but they couldn't locate it. I also asked my technician & he didn't know about it and he couldn't find any TSBs on this problem.
Yesterday I was stranded for a few minutes in a not so good part of town...someone please help! :( Thanks in advance.
I believe the valve you are referring to is the pressure relief valve contained within the fuel filter. Whether or not this is the problem or not I really can't say. Are you getting any readouts on the D.I.C. ?
The check valve your talking about is in the line going from the tank to the fuel filter, the check valve is part of the line and cannot be replaced seperately.
Are you saying that your engine cranks or turns over but does not fire off right away, if thats the case maybe your plugs and/or wires need replacing also maybe your injectors need to be cleaned, how many miles on the car. What about codes, do you have any codes that are showing up. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=26&TopicID=1
**edit**
I just reread your post, you say it is especially hard to start after the engine has been running a while, this would definitely steer me away from the check valve, if the check valve were bad then the car would only be hard to start after it sat overnight or longer.
Nope, no codes. I just had FLP put in their headers & with that new wires but the problem existed before this. I replaced my stock plugs with NGKs about 10,000 miles ago. I guess I can check the NGKs for gap??? Will dirty injectors throw codes...I mean, performance wise, the car seems fine.
