Default Cut outs anyone ever use them?

Has anyone ever put cut outs on a C5? I want to order a set of LG long tubes after I install the new tranny and 4.10 diff and was wondering if anyone has ever used cutouts? If so, how much extra hp do you get and can you use the the electric cutouts? It would be much nicer to flip a switch rather than go underneth the car.

Thanks ,
Tony

I'll get a ton of debate on this, but IMHO the LS1 needs back pressure.

Some one dyno without cats, with cats, and with open headers and we can see the results.

I have the QTP cutouts behind my cats (just before the rear cross member). I do not have the motors, but I will be ordering them soon. I love them. I have a really agressive cam 239/251 106lsa.

BTW, I did back to back dyno's and picked up about (peak #'s) 17 rwhp and 15 rwtq with them open.

The QTP electric cutouts are the most fun mod I have on my C5!

Well, if you don't count all the other mods... :lolg:

Added bonus - open them up, floor it, and then watch ricers pee in their pants when they hear your vette roar! :reddevil :D

QTP electric cutouts with turndowns after FLP headers near tranny.

FLP cutouts with McCord electric cutouts. These go in place of the cats.

I want to thank everyone for the input. This is a mod for me :yesnod: . Cant wait to get me car back together, got the the 4.10 today and I am waiting on the the transmission to arrive. The wife is a little "disturbed" at the moment but will get over it ;) . I love ti when the car breaks down, its amazing at the mods you can accomplish when the car is broken. All wife approve, what she doesnt know doesnt hurt her :D

I got no cats and the cutouts right before the up and over pipe. I picked up 3/10's in the 1/4 and 14rwhp on the dyno with them opened. :flag I say they are worth it.

I was wondering if it was possible to run cut-outs (manual or electric) before the cats? I was thinking of removing my precats and placing the cut-outs there. I thought this would provide a bigger performance gain than placing them, say, just before the over-the-axle pipes of my Stingers. Thanks for any info.

This is my next mod in the list.
Thought the gain is 0 but if I can get 10 rwhp, then it is sweet

I have the QTP just before the over pipes on the stock mufflers.

I picked up about 10rwhp on my dyno http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=585101

I love them, I can hit a switch and decide between waking up the neighbors or avoiding attention from cops and other cars.

Hey i have cutouts on my C-5. I haven't installed the electric butterflys yet but the "dumps" are installed. and better yet i am in Seattle also so you can actually here how they sound before you get them. I live in Kirkland if you ever want to get together to compare cars. i also know of several other high power c-5's in the area.
drop me a line.
