Well, after searching for a reputable shop to install the Transgo shift kit, I found one that has installed them in F-bodys and they also build racing transmissions. They followed the instructions step by step except for the changes suggested by VSTELLA and some additional info I got from JAWSKI (Thanks guys). They also put in aluminum pistons in place of the plastic ones at no additional charge. Cost of install was $150.00, an excellent price for the quality of work received, and took 2 1/2 hours. As for the performance of the shift kit it is everything VSTELLA preaches. I have really enjoyed my A4 with the 3.42 gears and SY3500 torque converter but the Transgo shift kit brought that combination to a new level of enjoyment. The first time I manually shifted from 1st to 2nd and it broke sideways really had the adrenaline pumping. Under normal excelleration the shifts are still crisp and surprisingly very smooth. At WOT it's a totally different game with the lightening quick shifts and barking of the tires (1st to 2nd is more than a bark!). This is the one awesome mod that is a must fot an A4. I am totally convinced and a firm believer this is the best mod for an A4. Man this thing is so fun, gotta go for a spin (literally)!

 on the new mod. It sounds like fun, and I may have to do that mod too. VStella won't steer you wrong, he is the forum's biggest Transgo advocate, and hasn't been wrong yet.
The TransGo itself is great bang for the buck, finding an installer is the hard part. My local Chevrolet dealer quoted me over $600.00 for the install, saying it was 8 hours of labor. I will start shopping local transmission shops. For me it makes sense to install the gears, TC, and Transgo at once, but finding an installer that will not charge over $1000.00 for labor is more difficult than it seems, particularly in Southern Ohio. This once sounds like a DIY.
My suggestion is to call Transgo direct for a installer in your area...they can be very helpful Call them at 626-443-4953

That's just what I did, however, they didn't have anyone in my area listed with experience. Then the hunt was on. Fortunetely I picked the right shop. Even though he had installed the same kit on several F-bodys he wanted to watch the video just in case there was a change he wasn't aware. I thought that was cool.
Yep I like my trans go in my 95.. I installed it myself.. wasn't too bad.. on a C5 should be pretty easy the only thing I'm not shure about is.. the 2/4 apply piston the kit comes with some shims to place behind the piston and I'm not shure how easy it is to get the cover off on a C5 I dont remmber how much clearance there is.. but I suppose you could install the kit with out the shims and it would probably work about the same because the shims for the 2/4 apply piston just take some slop of of the band.
Sounds like this is a must have mod for the A4. My pops Viper is consistently beating me by 1 -3 car lengths so I hope this mod and some gears will change the outcome. It's hard to get cars to really open up in the thin air here in Utah, but if I can take down the old man's ride I'll be happy.
The only caution is make SURE you do NOT have more than 15% increase in line pressure over stock if you go with the Transgo. Since the transgo kit itself does a great job of raising it manually....you will toast the 2-3 clutch pak in no time if not careful. Nothing beats a properly installed Transgo with the proper LS1 edit tuning!!
:iagree: The transgo is incredible. In fact, I credit the transgo for letting me whip a modded Viper and several modded '03 Cobras. The bottom line is, even a car with more HP miss more shifts that I will! :yesnod:
At WOT, the shift kit makes shifts feel similar to power shifting a M6. On the track, I hear it bark the tires on 1-2 and 2-3.
VSTELLA is the one that sold me on the mod almost exactly one year ago!
Finding an installer is the main problem with this mod. It took me a few weeks and the F-body guys came through for me and found me a great installer that they recommended highly of. I asked him the price and he said $100  . Hell Yea. Distance from house 15 minutes  . He also suggested to me to install a billet servo. Total for install and billet servo = 190. Will be install on the first week in september. :D
