Rear leaking? Help..
I was in the garage yesterday and noticed clear drips of an oily substance on the garage floor in the rear area of the vette.. I went out to carlisle, (longest trip for the vette to date). is this excess fluid coming out the vent hole? Is there anyway to tell for sure if it is the seal or not? If it is the seal.. How many out there have had it replaced and did it successfully?

Before panicing about having to take it apart, I would clean it up good (no chemicals on spring) and check the level cold. Then keep an eye on it. It may have been a combination of a little too much oil and the high temps we had last week.

I hope it is only the venting due to an ovwerfill. Chances are it is the notorious differential leak rear drivers side. GM won't stand behind it either unless itis under warranty. I had the same thing this year. Make sure you go to a reputable dealer the cost is around $500-600. I have had the leak problem only from the left side cover plate. It only leaks after a long (150 miles) trip and only a spot about as big as a quarter. Checked for overfilling and it was not. I can drive for weeks around town and have no leak but a long trip ----? :D :D
