Tappet noise or ??
I went through "search" and got no reply to this question that has been on the forum before. So, This is a re-visit. My engine has a tappet like click at tappet frequency. It only happens when the engine is warm and has been sitting idle for more than 10 minutes. There is no noise when the engine is first started when it is cold. Oil pressure is approx 40 lbs and comes up quickly. The noise goes away if I blip the throttle 3 or 4 times. What is causing this? :confused: :confused:

If memory serves me right here, I belive it is the injectors that you are hearing which are noisy on these cars. The search doesn't work all that well because this question sure has been asked before. :chevy

What weight oil are you using? It could be just "bleed down" of the lifters, with it taking a little time for them to fill / return to normal. If that is the case, it is not really a problem. You could use 5W or 0W-30 oil to help speed up the process. :yesnod: :)
