I got my actuator replaced at the dealer 2 months ago, and all was well. I was driving the other day and saw my voltage dropping. So I took it to the dealer, under warranty, and the car was at 10.1 volts by the time I got it there. The traction control, and service engine soon light came on. When I got to the dealer, the dealer turned off the car, since they wouldn't get to it for a while.
When the dealer wanted to start the car, the column lock wouldn't disengage. Dealer charged the battery overnight, and finds that 3 wires on the BCM were cut/ crimped. This threw 3 BCM codes. So if your column lock is acting up... it maybe your BCM.
Re: Possible New column Lock Solution (ICULUKN-C5)
If the column lock actuator does not get sufficient voltage,it can confuse the BCM and cause the column lock not to function :yesnod: Just one more reason that as long as there are column locks, there will be column lock faults :steering:

I got BIT by the Column lock bug on Friday while I was at the Carslile Event washing my car at the car wash area!!!
I took the cover off of the steering column and proded and poked the steering column wiring harness. After that it worked fine for the test of the weekend.
Damn thing has got to get the by-pass fix SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Possible New column Lock Solution (ICULUKN-C5)
Never had a problem with mine, but after hearing a lot of horror stories I installed the column lock bypass sold by a Forum Member. Installed easily and works just great. Cheap, too.
